About the Database.

A Smart Cities Database to connect people, businesses and investors.

The City of Sydney has engaged Strategic Global Pathways Pty Ltd to collect relevant data for the Sydney Smart Cities Business Database (SSCBD).

The SSCBD will feature Sydney’s businesses, research institutions and other organisations who have smart city capability and will enable the City of Sydney to connect these products and services to an international audience and enable international buyers and investors to connect with the City of Sydney and qualified smart city suppliers.

The SSCBD may be published by the City of Sydney through case studies or other city marketing initiatives in either digital and/or hard copy format.

The audience for this data will primarily be the international offices of state and federal government, bilateral chambers of commerce and consular corps who have the global networks to promote Sydney’s capability.

To participate please complete Part A and Part B below which will take approximately 20 minutes.

Part A is a series of qualification questions about your organisation. This data will be used and held by Strategic Global Pathways and the City of Sydney. The information you provide should NOT be commercial in confidence.

Part B is a survey which will determine your organisation’s Global Readiness Index (GRI). Your GRI will be provided to you. Should we decide to publish this data it will be in a de-identified and agglomerated form.

You can also review our privacy policy here.

Why Participate.

Participate to showcase your organisation to the City of Sydney and International visitors looking to connect with local capabilities.

Participation and listing in the SSCBD is completely voluntary and free of charge. The intent is to create a reference point which reflects the broad scope, depth of expertise and vast talent within the smart cities value chain in Sydney.

Organisations participating will:

  • Raise awareness of their capabilities and showcase their Smart Cities product and service offerings to the City of Sydney;

  • Gain insights into their organisations strengths and weaknesses in a global trade context via the Global Readiness Index;

  • Have their business included in a database which will be used by the City of Sydney as a reference point for international delegations, chambers of commerce, investors and stakeholders looking to connect with Smart Cities solution providers; and

  • Be one of the first to hear from the City of Sydney about potential business development, marketing, Smart Cities events or other opportunities to showcase their products/services.

The way forward today is a community-driven, bottom-up approach where citizens are an integral part of designing and developing smart cities, and not a top-down policy with city leaders focusing on technology platforms alone.
— Bettina Tratz-Ryan research vice president at Gartner.
Keeping Sydney globally competitive is central to Sydney’s and Australia’s future and an important part of Sustainable Sydney 2030. The City must focus on the global economy and sustained innovation to ensure continuing prosperity

Future Asia Business Summit

The Future Asia Business Summit is a City of Sydney yearly program, designed to strengthen Sydney-Asia business ties and engage in emerging areas of opportunity.  It brings together local and international businesses, government representatives, consular corps and bilateral chambers of commerce on the 23rd and 24th July 2019.

Attendance is free, but registration essential.

The summit will explore emerging global trends and key opportunities for Sydney based businesses within the broader smart cities context, with the aim to better facilitate trade and investment flows between Sydney and Asia.
